I Chopin's competition for Children
was initiated in 1999, it took place in Jelenia Góra. This
event leaded to the successive cooperation between Philharmonic
hall of Lower Silesia in Jelenia Góra and Fryderyk Chopin Music
Academy in Warsaw. Earlier both institutions were main
operators of polish festival "The Stars Promoted", which had
already few editions before.
The main competition initiator was Professor Andrzej Chorosiński,
who was that time an artistic director of Philharmonic hall of
The primary idea of competition that distinguishes it from
anather polish music events is performance at the third stage
the instrumental pieces with orchestra accompaniment. All this
means excellent level of competition's reputation and difficulty.
Moreover children under 15 are the main performers and for most
of them it is their first contact with philharmonic orchestra.
Next editions will take place every three years. The members
of the jury are the most remarkable academic teachers, who are
top-experts of piano skills. The jury chairman from the first
edition is Professor Kazimierz Gierżod.
Inauguration Concert of Chopin's Competition for children is
always held with participation of first place winner in B
category of previous edition.
From the third edition in 2005 the competition has international
